Leapsters!

Ages 3-5

This class is for dancers ages 3-5. Students will learn the fundamentals of Traditional Irish Step Dancing and establish familiarity with the music, foot placement, body alignment, and basic steps of Irish Dance. 

Ages 6+

Students will continue with the fundamentals of Traditional Irish Step Dancing and start learning full steps. Beginner Jigs and Reels will be taught and students will be able to compete at a feis* once they are capable of dancing the steps to music.

* “Feis” (pronounced ‘fesh’) is an Irish word meaning “festival” and has come to describe a traditional Gaelic arts and culture festival. The plural form of the word is “feiseanna” (pronounced “fesh – anna”). The term “feis” is commonly used referring to Irish dance competitions.

For students who have attended the Beginner 1 class and can perform the Jig and Reel to music. Students will start to learn Hard Shoe dances, and the pace of the class will increase as more dances are being practiced to music at full speed.

For students who have at least two competitive dances in the Novice level and will continue to train for feiseanna. Students will learn more advanced skills and progress their softshoe and hardshoe dances with complex movements. This is a more fast-paced class that includes regular drills to improve technique with the newly acquired skills and steps.

For students who have at least one hardshoe & softshoe dance in the Prizewinner level or higher and will continue to compete and train at an advanced level. 

All Ages Welcome!

This is a hardshoe class open to all ages and levels! Traditional Set Dances contain the most fundamental movements in Irish Dance, performed with a specific tune and choreography that has been passed down from generation to generation worldwide. The seven Traditional Set dances are: St. Patrick’s day, The Blackbird, Job of Journeywork, Garden of Daisies, King of the Fairies, Jockey to the Fair and Three Sea Captains.
